Hi Everyone,

Katherine here, founder of BN! In today's episode of The Fix,  we explore some of the ingredients within our INCI's, so that you get to know all of our products inside and out. We believe that nature is the best source of ingredients for our skin and are strictly against animal testing and using unnecessary chemicals, parabens, fillers and additives.  Our gentle and effective nutritional blends aim to brighten, tighten, uplift and clarify complexions.  Beautifully Nourished's skin collection has been naturally blended to promote maximum health and beauty benefits.

Let's Start with GO-GO-Goji Berry

Featured within our Acai and Goji Berry Scrub, the acai (ah-sigh-ee) berry has been around for thousands of years, however was not introduced into the western world until the 1990's. The berry was found to possess tremendous health properties and was first used by the tribes of the Amazon jungle as a cure for various ailments. Acai provides the building blocks of healthy skin. Vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, such as anthocyanins, flavonoids, vitamins and minerals.

Acai is an anti-aging warrior. It is rich in antioxidants, those substances that fight free radicals, responsible for ageing and disease. It’s also loaded with other nutrients. All of this will keep our skin happy, healthy, and vibrant. It is rich in omega-3, 6, and 9 fatty acids. These all help skin appear youthful and supple, Fatty acids revive the look of dry, dull skin. If we're getting enough, our skin looks smooth and soft. If we're not, skin dries out, sags, and becomes dull. This berry gives us a good dose of fatty acids with every application.

Goji Berries promote collagen for youthful elastic skin, help the skin to maintain it's moisture, protects the skin against environmental damage and UV rays and help to reduce the visible signs of ageing.

Alongside Goji, we feature one of my personal favourite ingredients, delicate orchid...

On the Orchid

Orchids contain calcium, magnesium and zinc which are all beneficial to the skin. Not only does orchid oil moisture the skin it also boosts the skins immunity, reduces fine lines, signs of ageing and soothes the skin.

Orchids are great for dry skin. They contain minerals that exist naturally in the skin; such as calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, and zinc that help nourish skin.

The nutrients contained within Orchids help to counteract the visible signs of ageing, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improving the skin's overall appearance.

Orchids also help to even skin tone by regulating skin pigmentation allowing natural coloration. The nutrients are capable of increasing cell production improving skin's strength, smoothness, and elasticity.

Next up, a home, kitchen favourite and a Beautifully Nourished staple.

Coconut Oil

Coconuts were first cultivated in Southeast Asia. Coconut Oil has grown in popularity amid claims that consumption has a host of health benefits.

Coconut Oil is rich in saturated fat and medium-chain fatty acids, especially Lauric acid. Saturated fats are amazing at repairing the skin’s natural barrier function and can also keep moisture in the skin by slowing down the evaporation.

Lemon Peel

Lemon peel packs a high amount of fibre and Vitamin C. Additionally, they contain small amounts of calcium, potassium, and magnesium. D-limonene, a compound that gives lemon its characteristic aroma, is also found in the peel and may be responsible for many of this fruit’s health benefits.

Citrus fruits have antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that can help minimise pores and clear the skin. The citric acid in lemon juice can gradually fade blemish spots and even out your skin tone.

The citric acid (a natural form of alpha hydroxyl acid (AHA)) inside lemon works as a natural astringent. If you're prone to a greasy complexion lemon can help to eliminate excess oil and skin. Lemons have strong antibacterial properties, which makes them perfect for diminishing breakout-causing bacteria.

Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which is a great antioxidant for neutralising free radicals and boosting collagen production,"

Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender Essential Oil has undeniable and amazing skin healing benefits and that's why we use it in our luxurious Skin Rejuvenating Night Cream.

Lavender oil works to kill bacteria, and this can prevent and heal acne breakouts. It unclogs pores and reduces inflammation when we put it on our skin.

It has also been shown to soothe eczema and dry skin.

With eczema, our skin gets dry, itchy, and scaly. It can appear mild or chronic and in multiple locations. Since lavender has anti-fungal properties and reduces inflammation, it can help keep eczema at bay.

Lavender oil reduces inflammation and can reduce discolouration, including dark spots. Lavender oil helps lessen blotchiness and redness. If we have hyper-pigmentation on our skin, lavender oil may be able to help with that as well.Fight wrinklesFree radicals are partly responsible for fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Lavender oil is full of antioxidants, which help protect us from free radicals. Anti-inflammatoryThe oil’s pain-relieving and numbing effects help soothe inflammation, while the beta-caryophyllene in the oil also acts as a natural anti-inflammatory.

"Taking care of your skin is more important than covering it up".

We hope that you enjoyed your daily Skin Fix and we will continue to explore more skin loving ingredients over the coming days.
With love, Katherine x
