It’s that month again, when the feeds are literally painted red with love hearts! We can easily fall in a daze when presented with beautiful red roses and a box of heart shaped chocolates. However alluring this may seem, the season of Valentine’s is an important one to reflect on healing “love wounds” old and new. Proven “self-healing” daily practices can help promote our mental wellbeing, not just for Valentine’s Day but all throughout the year.

ROMANCING THE STONE

Amethyst is the birthstone of February, also known as the “lovestone” of St. Valentine. Amethyst with its compelling rich shades of purple from dark to light, has calming properties and can help with balancing emotional, spiritual and physical well being, bringing much needed peace to the beholder. The lighter shades of amethyst are often the choice for “managing love related energy” and evoking emotional awakening. Any white found on the amethyst stone represents healing, cleansing and clarity, associated with “healing from love”.

SELF HEALING SANCTUARY

Creating our own inner haven, a sanctuary, a daily escape, can help with practicing self-healing. A specific spot in your home, lit with candles, crystals, and the diffusion of essential oils, with soothing meditation music in the background, pillows to prop us up and no distractions, can be the perfect setting to channel our emotions.

A ROMANTIC BATH FOR ONE

The power of a daily evening bath filled with relaxing and fragrant bath salts, dimmed down lights, can work wonders to heal our physical and mental wounds. At the end of a long and tasking day, we can nod back, close our eyes and reflect on our thoughts with intent.

LOVE LETTER

Practicing daily affirmations can be a cure for negative thoughts and aid healing in all areas of our lives. Find positive and personal mantras we can stick by and preach them everyday, first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Either verbally say them out loud and proud or write ourselves a love letter everyday.

TAKE MY BREATH AWAY

Whilst breathing may come easy to us, we take about 17,000 - 30,000 breaths a day, most of us are not focusing on the power of our breathing. Controlled deep breathing relaxes the body and mind and helps with our emotional state or stress levels. Monitoring and adapting how we breathe can promote self healing and improve health and wellness.

At Beautifully Nourished, we firmly believe in daily mantras for self-healing and feeding our body with nutrition to support the process. Our “5 HTP”, short for 5-hydroxytryptophan, is a naturally occurring amino acid and chemical precursor as well as a metabolic intermediate in the biosynthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin.

We hope that you enjoyed your daily Self Love Fix.
